sweet bean’s plastic-free water filter/dispenser system

Hubby and I have sifted through the gamut of options when it comes to providing our home with filtered water. In the city, we used the Aquasana three-step filter system installed under the kitchen sink, which filtered our drinking and cooking water. It worked effectively, but changing the filter twice a year was not at all user-friendly, and became a bi-annual exercise in anxiety that ultimately drove us to ditch the system.

Now that we’re settled in the big house, it has come high time to install a new system; the hand-held plastic water dispenser with filter from Zero Water we’ve been using leaves us stuck storing our drinking water in a plastic pitcher, and requires frequent filter changes, refilling of the pitcher and manual pouring.

Hubby pushed for the Poland Spring water cooler he has in the office—it has hot/cold tabs, provides instant filtered water with minimal maintenance, and looks pretty cool to boot. I fought against this system: the water is stored in plastic bottles, and has questionable filter quality.

After some online research, we finally agreed to purchase the XO bottleless stainless steel water filter/dispenser system. Some awesome features include:

–The water is taken from your own plumbing system, so you don’t have to deal with and pay monthly fees for monthly pick up and drop off of its water bottles.

–The entire cooler is made of stainless steel, which is non-toxic, so the water taken from your pipes then put through the filter is then stored in a stainless steel tank located inside the water cooler.

–The dispenser has hot/cold tabs, so you have fresh hot and cold water available 24/7.

–The filter is change is minimal, only needs to be done once a year, and has an easy-to-use twist-off design.

You can choose the level of filter system, ranging from a single microfiltration filter to reverse osmosis. If you’re handy-challenged like hubby and I, you can pay the company 200 bucks to install the system for you.

It’s been well worth every penny so far to have an eye-catching, eco-friendly, easy-to-use combo water filter/dispenser with hot/cold tabs at hands reach.

Ditch the tea pot, pass the tea bag please.
